Tick off another year …

It’s not often that I actually take the time to look back at what’s happened over the last year or so.

This is year is not much different – but there are a few things that stand out.

Firstly, for those who remember this post in which I mention some filming – it’s being broadcast on ITV1 at 9pm this Sunday and Monday.

One of wife number one’s mince pies to the person who spots the most (correct) shots of the theatre.

I also notice the amount of DIY that’s taken place – our kitchen, Mr Best Man’s conservatory (and move!) and more. I will get around to posting details of the kitchen revamp.  I’m just waiting for some of the photo’s, which are currently sat on a film camera owned by a man who had his latest child born recently.

That may take some time.

And talking of new children, I can’t believe the number of people who have either had children this year or whose better half’s are expecting.

I think it’s something in the water …

And holidays being something that doesn’t involve doing house work – it’s a nice concept. First a trip to the East Coast of the US (still paying for the carbon emissions of the flight!) then a group outing to the South Coast of the UK.

2008 was also the year that education refeatured – wife number one in the midst of her training to become a sparky and me taking a ten year old course from the open university and now knowing a little too much about the local combined heat and power plant – sigh.

And what’s new for 2009?

Well, a new job that currently seems to be quickly enhancing my skills with Excel, Word and (gulp!) Access. Or at least it would if I wasn’t spending all my time covering illnesses (this darn flu bug that does seem to be sweeping the country).

And the biggest change?

well, the picture says it all:

The pony tail

The pony tail

Yep, that’s 12 inches of man hair ziplocked for prosperity (or selling)

No more pony tail and a new haircut for the new year (think Kevin Sorbo… kinda … maybe … in a dim light … if you squint …)

Just in time for the cold snap.

Brrr!

Best of British to one and all for the New Year!

May the best of 2008 be the worst of 2009.

And words to that general effect …

Of all the awards …

A quick little update about the Butoh piece we had in a couple of weeks ago.

The Guardian run their 2008 Arts review this week and in Judith Mackrells section on Dance was the following:

Most surprising performer:

Butoh troupe Sankai Juku’s super-obedient peacock.

Our thanks go to 1st Choice Animals for the peacock hire
